Use an endpoint for processing and records
Choose an HTTPS endpoint you control when submissions must be validated on a server, stored, routed, integrated or audited. Never place endpoint secrets in browser code. FormToInbox hosted endpoints are not active, so the current standard export requires your own receiving service.
Use email or SMS for device handoff
Mailto opens an email draft and sms opens a text-message draft. Both depend on a compatible local application, expose the destination in front-end code and require the visitor to send. They do not create a server-side record by themselves.
Use chat apps for conversational leads
WhatsApp and Telegram can open prepared text. Telegram can also let the visitor choose a chat. Messenger uses copy-and-open so the visitor pastes the summary into the configured conversation. All destinations should be owned and verified by the publisher.
Apply a practical decision checklist
Prefer the simplest method that meets the operational need, then test its failure modes.
- Need storage, automation or a hidden recipient? Use a secured HTTPS endpoint.
