A privacy-friendly form starts with a narrow purpose and collects only what the publisher can justify. The person publishing an exported form controls its destination and use; FormToInbox does not receive values from the current browser-handoff exports.
State the purpose before collecting data
Tell visitors who is responsible for the form, why the information is needed, who will receive it and how they can ask questions or exercise applicable rights. Put a concise notice near the form and link to the complete privacy information.
Minimize fields and sensitive content
Remove questions that do not affect routing or the response. Avoid asking for special-category, financial, identity-document or other sensitive data through a general enquiry form unless a properly assessed process requires and protects it.
Explain the destination and retention
Name or describe the receiving service, secure access to it and define how long messages are kept. A mailto, WhatsApp, SMS, Messenger or Telegram export opens a third-party app; tell visitors that the provider will process the information if they choose to send it.
Use an appropriate legal basis
Do not add a consent checkbox automatically to every contact form. The responsible publisher must identify the appropriate legal basis and any required notices for its purpose and jurisdiction. This guide is technical information, not legal advice; seek qualified advice for your situation.
Frequently asked questions
Does FormToInbox receive values from an exported app-handoff form?
No. The current generated handoff runs in the visitor's browser and opens the selected email or messaging application.
Should every field be required?
No. Require a field only when the request cannot reasonably be handled without it.
Do I always need a consent checkbox?
No. Consent is only one possible legal basis and may be inappropriate for some contact purposes. The publisher must assess the applicable law.
